Office Injections & Procedures

Office injections are a huge part of my practice, whether they are cosmetic injections of Botox or fillers, injections in the periocular region to remove or biopsy lesions, or injections prior to major surgical procedures like upper and lower blepharoplasty.

It can be frightening to undergo an office procedure. However, most of that apprehension is unwarranted. It is possible to perform major surgery without sedation in the office setting with minimal discomfort. It is critically important to manage the patient’s expectations, to speak plainly, and to take an appropriate amount of time to prepare the patient.

This video illustrates performing an office procedure on a 9 year old boy, involving removing a stye in his lower lid. This requires an injection of local anesthetic in the eyelid. Despite the child’s anxiety, he had a good experience, and a good outcome.
