Recent Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty Results

This 51 year old patient presented with complaints of upper eyelid tissue obscuring her vision. She also was unhappy with the appearance of her lower lids. She had significant laxity of the lower lid tissue that mandated an open lower blepharoplasty. A significant vertical excess of skin was present — removing this had the extra benefit of reducing the amount of hyperpigmented skin present in the lower lids.

The upper lid surgery was a standard upper blepharoplasty with fat subtraction. The lower lid blepharoplasty involved:
- Canthoplasty
- Retinacular suspension (the muscle “sling” of the lower lid)
- Fat reduction
- Skin removal
The procedure took about two hours in total and was performed under general anesthesia. Postoperative pain was minimal, and healing time was several weeks.
